New State Application Information!
The State of Florida has recently changed the application to take the State
exam. You can obtain the new application from

or apply on-line at

. The NEW fee for taking the State exam is $138 and is payable to
Professional Testing, Inc. The application is now only 2 pages long
and is much simpler to complete. NOW is the time! Our
next complete class Session begins in September for the October and December
State exams.
Classes for August, October and December Exams
Our 2nd Session which began in May is now completed.
That Session was for those students who planned to test in June and August.
The August Special Review in Tampa for all categories will be on August 9th and
10th. If you are testing in October or December, classes begin in Tampa on
September 4th, 2003 and in Orlando and Ft. Myers on September 5th, 2003. You
can print out a class schedule in our

can register for classes in the
Register section, and you can purchase books in our online
Bookstore!

Canines sniff out mold problems
Dogs
are the newest addition to the mix of tactics that building owners,
school, municipalities and developers are using to fight and detect mold.
The dogs can smell toxic mold where humans cannot see, such as behind
walls and under carpet.

Demand for
safety drives blast-resistant glass market
Interest in
improved products has increase since the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, but
demand for blast-resistant building materials really started booming after the
terror attacks of 2001. The government is driving the bulk of the demand for new
materials, but commercial building owners also are interested in film adhesives
for use on existing windows to improve safety.

Neuroscientists are teaming up with the American Institute of Architects to
tackle research initiatives intended to study the effects of design on the human
mind. In one particular study that seeks to learn how different environments and
activities affect stress levels, participants will wear portable heart rate
monitors and keep records in personal digital assistants.

OSHA announces new targeted inspection plans; construction industry exempt
The agency
says its site-specific targeting plan will address about 3,200 high-hazard sites
for unannounced comprehensive safety and health inspections during the year. The
construction industry was included in the data survey last year, but won't be
included in the new plan.
