Never Satisfied
You are never going to be completely satisfied, and indeed what a blessing that is. Satisfaction never lasts, and that is what helps to make it so positively powerful.

Just think of all the great accomplishments that have come about because people were not satisfied with the way things were. The pursuit of satisfaction, as elusive as it always is, has continually driven the pursuit of excellence.

Satisfaction would be meaningless if it were ever to be complete and final. For what satisfaction would there be if you knew that there was no more satisfaction to be attained, no higher level to be reached?

If something you desire is at the moment out of your reach, think of how truly blessed you are to be faced with such a dilemma. For you have the wonderful, magnificent opportunity to reach for it.

It is in the pursuit of value that we truly know and experience that value. You will never be completely satisfied, and in that happy fact is the greatest satisfaction possible.

-- Ralph Marston

The changing face of contractors
A consultant advised mechanical contractors to get into schools to see the future of the job force. The new generation of workers expects certain things out of work: flexible schedules, a good work environment and a Web site for background information.
Employers looking to fill positions that can pay by the hour, such as drivers and construction workers, have a new resource. http://www.monster.com advertised its "blue-collar" worker service during the Super Bowl. http://www.hotjobs.com also says it is going to open up to the hourly wage market.

Mark your calendars now for AGC's convention in Hawaii

In addition, informative seminars, leadership sessions, professional development tracks and forums that impact your company's bottom line will all be included. Save big bucks and register early.

Economic Census Forms Due Feb. 12
The five million American businesses that received 2002 Economic Census forms from the U.S. Census Bureau are required by law to return the surveys by Feb. 12, 2003. The Census Bureau releases the Economic Census every five years to develop an accurate portrait of the American economy. This year, for the first time ever, businesses can file their information electronically. Contractors that want to report electronically may visit the Census Bureau business help site www.census.gov/econhelp.

This is a collection of links to the Web sites of trade associations, industry groups, and non-profit organizations. Sites have been included on our list without regard for appearance, quality of presentation, depth of information, or ease of use. While many of theses sites are very well done, you will find some sites that have obviously been included simply because they provide a toll free phone number or an email address that will allow you to contact them for more information. http://www.b4ubuild.com

I
ncreased Expensing Part Of The President's Small Business Agenda
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Small businesses will have additional funds available for job creation and expansion if they are able to expense more of their capital purchases, said Thomas M. Sullivan, Chief Counsel for Advocacy, in a recent letter to members of the U.S. Senate.  The letter to Senators Kit Bond (R-MO), Susan Collins (R-ME), Tim Hutchinson (R-AR), and Gordon Smith (R-OR) was sent in support of their co-sponsorship of Senate bill S. 2023, which would increase expensing limits for small businesses.
