July, 2002

Thank you for your interest in CAM TECH School of Construction. We provide the latest contractor information right to your computer. You can learn all you need to know from our website at www.camtechschool.com and by visiting one of our Free Licensing Information Seminars. Need books? We have a full Construction Bookstore online! We will keep you updated on what you need to know as a Florida Contractor or Future Florida Contractor!

In this issue, we are including information about:

Renew Your License!

That's right, it's license renewal time! All Certified Contractor's licenses expire August 31st, 2002, so be sure you have your renewal forms turned in on time! The DBPR should have sent all forms and instructions to all Certified Contractors. If you do not have your paperwork, please contact the DBPR.

Electronic CE Submission

All Continuing Education hours are now submitted electronically by the Continuing Education Provider. All you need to do is indicate that you have completed the required hours and the School submits the proof. Hang on to your Certificates of Completion! Your school should have provided you with a Certificate of Completion. This is for you to keep. In the event the State selects you for a random audit, this is your proof of Continuing Education. Do not submit these certificates with your renewal forms unless specifically requested to do so by the State.

View Your CE Hours Online

If you have tried to look up your CE hours on the State's website and found errors in the number of hours completed, don't worry! The State has been experiencing difficulties with their website in accurately reporting the correct number of CE hours. We have spoken with Jeff Ewaldt, Government Analyst I of the Education Provider Services for the Bureau of Education and Testing. They are aware of website errors and Mr. Ewaldt assures us that all students will have the correct number of hours on their record, regardless of what shows on the website. CAM TECH has reported all students hours for Continuing Education. If you wish to confirm your hours or discuss any discrepancies with the State's website, you should call the State's Customer Contact Center at 850-487-1395. We suggest not leaving any messages, but instead hold on the line until you speak with a live person who can answer your questions.

Online Applications

If you wish to apply for any of the Florida State Certified Contractor's Exams, you have two options. You can visit the website and print an application form, then mail it in to the DBPR by the deadline. You can also submit your application online. If you choose to submit your application online, please remember to print the Attest Statement at the end! Your application is not complete until you print and sign the Attest Statement, and have your signature notarized. The application says that the State may take up to 30 days to process your application. If you have not received anything from them after that time, please call their Customer Contact Center to check on the status of your application.

After you submit your application, either by mail or via internet, the State may send a Scheduling Form. This Scheduling Form needs to be returned by the deadline, so if you haven't received it before 45 days prior to the exam you wish to take, you should contact the State. Once the State receives your Scheduling Form, they will send your acceptance package. You will not be allowed into the exam without your Admission Slip, so if you haven't received it before your scheduled exam, please contact the State.

If you are unsure of the status of your application, when you are scheduled to test, or have any other application questions, please call the State right away, so that you do not miss any deadlines. Please always read everything the State sends you. They include all relevant instructions and deadlines in their material and it is your responsibility to know these instructions and deadlines.

Testing Locations

There has been some confusion about where the Orlando exams are being held. Previously, exams were held in the Tupperware Center in Kissimmee. The Tupperware Center has been sold to new management, and exam locations have been moved around. The DBPR has an announcement on the mail CILB page regarding the August Exam Locations. That webpage can be found at www.state.fl.us/dbpr/pro/cilb/cilb_index.shtml. If you are scheduled to test, the State will send you an Admissions Slip that will include the date and location of your exam. You can also visit the State's website at http://www.state.fl.us/dbpr/pro/testing/test_dates.shtml to view testing dates and locations. Please keep an eye on this page for changes. The State does include addresses and links to Mapquest maps for directions.
